1. What areas do you cover Halifax?

I provide driving lessons in Halifax and surrounding areas including Copley, Boothtown, Halifax Town Centre, Illingworth, Ovenden, Mixenden, WheatleyPellon, King Cross, Siddal, Warley, Sowerby Bridge (Before Tual Lane) and Wheatley.


2. Do you offer manual or automatic lessons?

RPT Driver Training currently offers manual driving lessons.


3. How many driving lessons will I need?

This depends on your experience and confidence. Most new learners require 25–40 hours of professional instruction, but lessons are tailored to your ability so you only take what you need.


4. Do you offer intensive or fast-track driving courses?

Unfortunately I do not offer intensive or fast-track driving courses at this time.

5. How do I book a driving lesson?

You can book a lesson by contacting me through my Contact Page, by phone, or through the RPT Driver Training Google Business Profile or Driving Lessons Halifax Facebook Page. I will arrange lesson times that suit your schedule.

6. Can you pick me up from home, college, or work?

Yes. I offer flexible pick-up and drop-off locations within Halifax and the surrounding areas.


7. What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations may be charged to cover costs.


8. Do you help with driving theory test preparation?

Yes. I provide theory test support and guidance, including recommended apps, resources, and help with understanding theory questions.


9. Are you a fully qualified instructor?

Yes. I am a DVSA-approved driving instructor with experience helping new drivers learn safely and confidently.

10. Do you provide motorway or refresher lessons?

Yes. I offer motorway lessons, refresher lessons, confidence-building sessions, and post-test training.


11. How much do driving lessons cost?

13. What car will I learn to drive in?

Lessons take place in a modern dual-controlled manual training car, Ford Focus designed to ensure safety and comfort while you learn.


14. How long is each driving lesson?

Driving lessons are typically 1 or 2 hours long, depending on your preference and availability.


15. Do I need to pass my theory test before starting lessons?

No. You can start practical driving lessons before passing your theory test. However, you must pass the theory test before booking your practical driving test.


16. Can you help me book my driving test?

Yes. I can guide you through the process of booking your practical driving test when you are ready.

17. Do you teach nervous or anxious drivers?

Yes. I specialise in helping nervous or anxious learners build confidence and progress at a comfortable pace.


18. What age can I start driving lessons?

In the UK, you can start driving lessons at 17 years old, provided you have a valid provisional driving licence


19. Where is the nearest driving test centre in Halifax?

The nearest test centre for learners in Halifax is the Halifax Driving Test Centre. During lessons we practise on local test routes and common driving test areas to help you feel confident and prepared on the day of your test.


20. How quickly can I start driving lessons in Halifax?

Lesson availability varies depending on current bookings. I always try to offer the earliest available lesson slots and flexible times to suit work, school, or college schedules. Contact me to check current availability.

21. What should I bring to my first driving lesson?

You will need to bring your valid UK provisional driving licence to your first lesson. It’s also helpful to wear comfortable shoes suitable for driving. Your instructor will explain the controls of the car and begin with basic driving skills.

22. Can I practise driving with family or friends between lessons?

Yes. Practising between professional driving lessons can help you progress faster. You must be supervised by someone over 21 years old who has held a full UK driving licence for at least 3 years, and the car must be properly insured for learner drivers.

23. What happens during a driving lesson?

During your driving lesson, I will guide you through different driving skills such as moving off, stopping, steering, junctions, roundabouts, and parking manoeuvres. Lessons are structured to gradually build your confidence and ability.

24. What happens if I fail my driving test?

If you fail your practical driving test, you will receive feedback from the examiner explaining the faults that occurred during the test. This helps you understand what to improve before taking another test.
