My name is Richard and I am the instructor behind RPT Driver Training. I grew up in Halifax, so I know the local roads and test areas very well, which helps when preparing learners for their driving test. I am a DVSA approved driving instructor in Halifax, providing friendly and professional driving lessons to learners across Halifax and the surrounding areas.
After leaving school, I joined the Royal Navy in 1981 and spent many years serving on submarines. During my time in the Navy I was based in Helensburgh, Scotland, where I developed strong discipline, patience and responsibility – qualities that have helped me greatly in my career as a driving instructor.
I left the Navy in 2003 and soon after qualified as a driving instructor. I initially worked with a couple of driving school franchises before deciding to run my own independent driving school, allowing me to provide a more personal and flexible service for my learners.
In 2013 I moved back to Halifax, where I now provide driving lessons in Halifax and the surrounding areas.
I have been married to my wife Lisa for over 30 years, and we have three daughters and three granddaughters, who keep us very busy and bring a lot of joy to our lives.
Outside of teaching driving, I enjoy all kinds of sport, improving my computer skills, and going on long walks to relax and clear my mind. When I want a good workout I often spend time on my indoor rowing machine, which is a great way to stay fit and de-stress.
As a driving instructor, my aim is always to create a calm, friendly and supportive learning environment, helping each learner build confidence and develop the skills needed to become a safe driver for life.
